About this opportunity
The Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is issuing a Request for Information on alternative automated gate arm solutions for border crossings, with responses due December 3, 2026 at 12:00 PM EST. CBP is not currently seeking proposals, and the RFI does not commit the Government to any procurement. No set-aside is used. CBP seeks commercially available automated gate arm systems and related support services that improve reliability, maintainability, and operational availability at border crossing processing lanes, where vehicle-impact damage and mechanical failures currently restrict lane availability, lengthen inspection processing, and raise repair costs. Solutions must be deployable in active border-crossing environments, integrate with current traffic management systems, and minimize operational disruption. Requested information covers features that mitigate vehicle-impact damage, anticipated failure modes with repair timeframes and costs, expected useful life, preventive maintenance, parts and technical support availability, installation and integration, compatibility with current and future Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) deployments, familiarity with existing NII systems, warranty coverage and exclusions, and estimated lifecycle costs with supporting assumptions. Respondents must also identify proprietary components. The source states no quantity, period of performance, budget, or incumbent. Responses are limited to 10 pages and must be emailed in Word or PDF format to Contracting Officers Aga Frys (aga.frys@cbp.dhs.gov) and Kaitlin Merli (kaitlin.h.merli@associates.cbp.dhs.gov). Respondents bear their own response costs, receive acknowledgment only, and may find submissions informing future CBP requirements documents. The notice is classified under NAICS 332321 and PSC 5660.
