About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command Fort Hood is seeking vendors to provide remote and on-site hardware and software warranty and sustainment support services for the Airborne Position Location System (APLS) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This sources sought notice is designed to inform a competitive procurement strategy and does not constitute a formal solicitation or commitment to contract. Key requirements include depot-level repair and refurbishment of APLS equipment, system software maintenance, hardware and software support training, onsite service support at multiple locations, and telephonic technical support with a maximum seven-day repair turnaround time. The government is particularly interested in identifying small businesses across all socioeconomic categories—including 8(a) Business Development Program participants, Service-Disabled Veteran Owned, Women-Owned Small Business, HUBZone, and Small Disadvantaged Business concerns—that can meet these requirements at fair market pricing. Responses to this sources sought notice must be submitted by April 23, 2026, at 4:00 PM Central Daylight Time to Contracting Officer Lucy Bonner and Contract Specialist Krista DuBose, with submissions limited to five pages and must include firm contact information, UEI number, CAGE code, relevant certifications, experience on similar requirements, and commercial pricing information.

This procurement carries no set-aside designation at this time, though the government is actively seeking information to support potential future set-asides for small businesses. The incumbent contractor is SRI International of Menlo Park, California, which has successfully sustained and upgraded APLS through multiple contracts. The anticipated NAICS code is 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) with a size standard of $34.0 million, suggesting a substantial contract value. The follow-on contract will be structured as a five-year base Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a performance period running from February 12, 2027 through February 11, 2032, requiring sustainment support for 100 personnel units, 25 pallet units, 112 Miniaturized APLS units, three GPS re-radiator assemblies, eight rapid data download/charger racks, and software across four analysis workstations. Future solicitation announcements will be posted on sam.gov, and potential offerors must monitor that platform for the formal RFP or IFB release.
