About this opportunity
The Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Eglin Air Force Base issued a sole-source justification notice for the development and production of the JUON Dual Mode Air-to-Air Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems weapon system, which comprises a Long Wave Infrared seeker, mid-body warhead with dual safe proximity fuze, and modified guidance sections integrated into the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) AGR-20F rocket. The sole-source award to BAE Systems (Hudson, New Hampshire; CAGE Code 94117) is justified under 10 USC 3204(a)(1) based on unacceptable delay, as awarding to any other source would result in an estimated 44-month delay that would critically impact warfighter capability, and a Request for Information received 43 responses with only BAE Systems meeting the required Technology Readiness Level 6 by the June 30, 2025 deadline and 24-month development timeline. The estimated contract value is $145 million, comprising $62 million for component development, $56 million for testing and qualification of operational leave-behinds, and $27 million for technical risk and Navy qualification efforts, structured as an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract with a 60-month ordering window utilizing mixed contract types including Cost Plus Fixed-Fee, Cost Reimbursable, and Firm-Fixed Price. Work is scheduled to commence no later than the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2026, with a 24-month development phase for a partial solution followed by additional ordering capacity for full production-ready capability.
