About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command's 532nd Training Squadron has issued a Special Notice regarding the sole-source acquisition of preventive maintenance services for a mission-critical Ingersoll Rand Model R160I-A125 rotary screw air compressor. This compressor, serial number V1859U13149, is essential for supporting training operations for air-launched cruise missile maintainers. The government intends to award a sole-source contract to Ingersoll-Rand Industrial based on their unique qualifications and specialized expertise with this specific compressor model. The notice was published on July 17, 2025, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), indicating the government's intent to negotiate with only one source due to lack of competition for this specialized service. Market research has determined that Ingersoll-Rand Industrial is the only local company capable of providing the required maintenance services.
The purpose of this Special Notice is to notify potential contractors of the government's intent to award a sole-source contract while providing an opportunity for other qualified vendors to challenge this determination. Interested parties must submit capability information and demonstrate their ability to provide equivalent services by July 23, 2025, at 1300 PST. Contractors challenging the sole-source determination must provide a rationale explaining why they should be considered and demonstrate expertise with the specific compressor model. The required services include biannual preventive maintenance and repair services, encompassing all labor, parts, and specialized expertise necessary to ensure continued operation of the equipment. Eligible contractors must possess demonstrable expertise on the Ingersoll Rand Model R160I-A125 rotary screw air compressor to maintain equipment integrity and support the effectiveness of the training program. The government will not reimburse any costs associated with providing capability information, and the final determination to compete or not compete this contract remains solely within the government's discretion.
