The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information Technology, Infrastructure Operations, Austin Information Technology Center, is preparing to solicit spare mission-critical circuit breakers for data center power system operations, with a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business set-aside anticipated; the Sources Sought Notice response deadline is August 10, 2026.

The procurement targets draw-out, 3-pole circuit breakers rated at 5000 A frame with 690 V AC operational voltage. Equipment must be compliant with ANSI C37, UL 1066, and EN/IEC standards and include electronic trip units with Zone Selective Interlocking protection, residual ground fault protection, integrated power metering, and Modbus communication capability. Circuit breakers must provide minimum 12 auxiliary contacts, rated ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity of 100 kA, motor-operated spring charging at 440–480 V AC, IP30 minimum protection degree, and operating temperature range of −25°C to 70°C. Mechanical durability must sustain minimum 10,000 cycles with maintenance. All equipment must be new with OEM warranty documentation, Production Test Reports, and CE, CCC, and EAC certifications.

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information Technology, Infrastructure Operations (IO), Austin Information Technology Center (AITC), is contemplating issuing a solicitation for the high priority procurement of spare mission critical circuit breakers required to sustain Data Center Power System operations. Delivery of circuit breakers shall be considered standard delivery.

This procurement will support the Data Center's mission critical power systems, which require micro-controlled, automatically operating, shelf-racking, large-amperage circuit breakers. These circuit breakers are installed in computer-controlled Generator Paralleling Switchgear systems that must operate safely while switching between utility and generator power.
