About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command, specifically the 28th Maintenance Group at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) for a replacement compressor part for the 808 Air Conditioning Unit (ACU) manufactured by TLD for a B-1B Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) cart. This market research effort, conducted under FAR Part 10, seeks to gather information from potential vendors about the availability and specifications of the required compressor part. Interested parties are asked to submit detailed company information, including CAGE code, business size, and contact details, along with confirmation of parts availability and lead times. The government is particularly interested in understanding aftermarket parts that might meet their needs, including manufacturer details, product specifications, maintenance requirements, and service support. Responses must be submitted electronically to two specified Air Force email contacts by 4:00 PM MDT on April 4, 2025, with the subject line "Sources Sought / RFI - ACU Air Conditioning Unit Compressor."
The opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, targeting smaller businesses in the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Equipment Manufacturing sector (NAICS 333415). The specific part of interest is a Refrigeration Compressor with Part Number 1034192, indicating a precise technical requirement for the AGE cart. While no specific award value or budget range is mentioned in the documentation, the RFI is explicitly clear that this is a market research exercise and does not guarantee a contract award. The government emphasizes that no reimbursement will be provided for response costs, and vendors should only respond if they intend to potentially submit a proposal when the project is formally advertised. The solicitation is part of the Air Force's acquisition strategy for maintaining and replacing critical aerospace ground equipment components, with a focus on understanding current market capabilities for this specialized compressor part.
