About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is seeking to procure 44 units of a mechanical actuator (NSN 7R-1680-015988197-V2) classified under the Miscellaneous Aircraft Accessories and Components category. This procurement requires engineering source approval from the design control activity to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the acquisition process. The requirement emphasizes that qualified sources possess unique design capabilities, specialized engineering skills, and proprietary manufacturing or repair knowledge that are not economically available elsewhere to the Government. Contractors must demonstrate compliance with the design control activity's qualification procedures and obtain approval from the cognizant Government engineering activity overseeing the part's application. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on November 23, 2025, with a due date for responses set for January 5, 2026.

This procurement carries no set-aside designation and will be competed among sources that meet the stringent qualification requirements established by the Government's engineering control activity. While no specific incumbent contractor or potential bidder names are identified in the pre-solicitation notice, the evaluation will focus on a contractor's ability to meet the design control specifications and maintain the technical data rights necessary for the part's production and repair. The contract calls for delivery on an FOB Origin basis with a specified quantity of 44 units, though no specific award value or budget range is disclosed in this pre-solicitation announcement. Potential contractors should note that alternate sources seeking to qualify must navigate an approval process managed by the Government's engineering activity, which may extend the timeline for new supplier qualification. Organizations interested in pursuing this opportunity should monitor for the formal solicitation release and prepare to demonstrate their technical qualifications early in the acquisition process.
