About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is procuring nine units of an Acoustic Processor component (NSN 7R-1680-016672139-CB) classified as miscellaneous aircraft accessories and components. This is a flight-critical part that requires engineering source approval from the design control activity prior to contract award to maintain quality standards and ensure technical adequacy. The Government has determined that only previously approved sources possess the unique design capability, engineering skills, and manufacturing knowledge necessary to produce this item, and that the technical data required for full and open competition is not economically available. Only sources previously approved by the Government have been solicited for this procurement. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on March 27, 2025, with a proposal due date of January 26, 2026. Companies that are not currently approved sources may submit source approval information in accordance with NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support procedures outlined in the provided brochures, though approval timelines may preclude such sources from competing for this award.

This procurement includes no set-aside designation and contemplates the acquisition of nine units for delivery on an FOB Origin basis. No specific award value or budget range is disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice. The notice does not identify any current contractors or incumbents by name. The primary qualification requirement centers on obtaining Government source approval prior to contract award, with alternate sources required to qualify according to design control activity procedures and receive approval from the cognizant Government engineering activity. The condensed timeline for source approval, combined with the flight-critical nature of the component, creates significant barriers to entry for non-approved sources seeking to participate in this competition.
