About this opportunity
The United States Marine Corps, through Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) Product Manager Ammunition, is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential sources capable of manufacturing 81mm Mortar High Explosive (HE) projectiles. This is an information gathering and market research initiative intended to assess supplier capability and is not a commitment to procure or issue a future Request for Proposal. Interested parties must submit white paper responses limited to 10 pages by May 7, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. EDT to Contract Specialist Anthony Fennell at anthony.fennell@usmc.mil. Capability statements must include detailed company information (CAGE code, SAM.gov registration, business classification), production experience from the past five years with specific contract details, current production capacity for 81mm HE projectiles, comprehensive ammunition data including component specifications and test results, and documentation of defect history and chain of custody. Respondents must also indicate willingness to participate in a Bailment Agreement for technical evaluation and live fire testing. Written questions must be submitted by April 27, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. EDT, and all submitted materials become Government property and will not be returned.
This RFI carries no set-aside designation and does not identify any current contractors or incumbent suppliers. The Government has not disclosed anticipated award values, budget ranges, or specific procurement quantities in this pre-solicitation notice. While the RFI does not establish firm timelines or service requirements, it represents preliminary market research for a future formal solicitation that will be released on SAM.gov. Submission of a response to this RFI is optional; failure to respond does not preclude a company from participating in any subsequent Request for Proposal. The applicable NAICS code is 332994 (Mortars Manufacturing), and the PSC category is 1015 (Guns, 75mm Through 125mm).
