About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Denver Logistics Service is seeking suppliers of custom shipping boxes and associated shipping materials through a Sources Sought Notice/Request for Information (RFI). The VA anticipates awarding a firm-fixed-price indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for a base year with four one-year option periods to a qualified manufacturer. The requirement involves providing various sizes of corrugated boxes with specific technical requirements, including single wall construction, an auto-bottom feature, 32 lbs Edge Crush Test, 75-inch size limit, and 65 lbs gross weight. Interested parties must respond to 17 detailed questions covering topics such as pricing, customer service capabilities, production flexibility, and company experience. The RFI responses are due by 2:30 PM Mountain Standard Time on December 13, 2024, with the intent of determining the most appropriate acquisition method and potential set-aside opportunities.
The contract is not currently set aside for any specific small business category, though the VA is particularly interested in identifying Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) opportunities. The VA Denver Logistics Center estimates shipping approximately 60,000 boxes per month, totaling between 700,000 and 850,000 products annually for delivery to eligible veteran patients nationwide. The requirement falls under NAICS code 322211 (Corrugated and Solid Fiber Box Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,250 employees. The contract will cover 37 line items of different box sizes and related shipping materials, with the initial performance period scheduled from February 14, 2025, to February 13, 2026. While no specific award value is mentioned, the extensive line item list and high monthly volume suggest a significant potential contract opportunity for qualified manufacturers.
