About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior's Interior Business Center is issuing a Request for Information on behalf of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to conduct market research for a GPU server node, with responses due by July 24, 2026 at 5 P.M. EDT. This is not a competitive solicitation but rather pre-acquisition planning and market research; no commitment to contract or promise of future RFP issuance is implied.
The system will support Phase 1 of the Autonomous Human Biology Pilot Platform, processing imaging data, training and running AI models, and storing datasets for automated stem cell culture monitoring and experimentation. The server must be an enterprise-class dual-socket system with 128–192 total physical CPU cores (64–96 per socket) using latest-generation Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC processors with PCIe Gen5 support. Memory configuration requires 1 TB of ECC DDR5 RAM, expandable to 2 TB or greater. Storage must provide 100 TB of usable capacity at deployment, scalable to 250–500 TB, configured with enterprise-grade RAID 6 or equivalent fault-tolerant architecture with hot-spare capability and tiered primary NVMe SSD and secondary enterprise SSD or SAS storage. The platform must include dual redundant 100 Gb Ethernet interfaces plus additional 25 Gb and 10 Gb interfaces, enterprise RAID controller, and support NVIDIA AI Enterprise or equivalent, compatible with NVIDIA CUDA, TensorRT, and Kubernetes. GPU options are RTX 6000s or L40s, with RTX 6000s preferred, supporting 2–4 high-performance GPUs for concurrent AI inference and training workloads. The system must be enterprise rack-mounted, 4U–8U or larger, prioritizing architecture and upgradeability over footprint minimization.
Respondents must provide company name and SAM UEI, written confirmation of capability, NAICS classification and size standard, reseller or subcontractor information, applicable GWACs or GSA schedules, optional pricing, and socioeconomic status. Questions close July 20, 2026 at 9:00 A.M. EDT; submit responses to Melissa_Onyszko@ibc.doi.gov.
