About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) in Houston, Texas, is conducting a Sources Sought Notice and Request for Information (RFI) for seventy-five meal delivery carts for their Nutrition and Food Services department. The procurement seeks stainless steel carts with specific requirements, including Aethon tug robotic transport system compatibility, a one-door design, 20-tray capacity, and the ability to accommodate multiple tray sizes. This RFI is designed to help the VA define its procurement strategy, which may result in a set-aside, sole source, or unrestricted solicitation. Responses to the RFI are due by 13:00 PM Central Standard Time on April 11, 2025, and must be submitted via email to Lekeicia Anderson-Spight in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat format. The VA will use the collected information solely for market research purposes and will keep the responses confidential within the MEDVAMC Purchasing and Contracting Team.
The procurement is currently not set aside for any specific business category, with a NAICS code of 333310 (Commercial and Service Industry Machinery Manufacturing) and a size standard of 1,000 employees. The carts will replace existing Burlodge Model No. BLPOS.000 Pod Transport Carts, and the anticipated contract will be a Single Award, Firm Fixed Price arrangement. Vendors must provide an Authorized Distribution Letter and are prohibited from submitting grey market items. While no specific budget range is disclosed, the procurement includes delivery, uncrating, and removal of old equipment. The contract will be administered through the VA Network Contracting Office located at 16 Galleria Financial Center in Houston, Texas, with interested vendors encouraged to submit detailed information about their business classification, service capabilities, maintenance requirements, and estimated pricing.
