About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 2 has published a Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source for Polymedco iFOBT testing kits. This notice announces the agency's intent to award a Firm Fixed Price sole source contract to Polymedco Cancer Diagnostic Products, LLC of Cortland Manor, NY for fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kits. The contract will support VISN 02 Medical Centers' recurring annual requirement for colorectal cancer screening across the New York/New Jersey Healthcare Network. The VA has determined that Polymedco is the only source reasonably available to provide tests compatible with existing analyzers currently deployed in VISN 02 facilities. This notice falls under the In Vitro Diagnostic Substances, Reagents, Test Kits and Sets category and carries solicitation number 36C24225Q1012.

The primary objective of this sole source action is to procure specialized FIT kits that meet specific technical requirements for the VA's colorectal cancer screening program. The required specifications include the ability to detect human hemoglobin without dietary restrictions, a specimen transport system stable for 14 days at ambient temperature, compliance with US Postal Service mailing requirements, and analyzer capabilities that provide comprehensive result printouts. Contractors have until September 3, 2025 at 12:00 PM Eastern Time to submit capability statements if they believe they can meet these requirements. While this is a sole source notice rather than a competitive solicitation, the VA will consider alternative sources that can demonstrate capability to provide compatible solutions. The notice emphasizes that only Polymedco currently meets the predictive value capability, automated analysis, and logistical specifications required for VISN 2's average risk colorectal cancer screening program.
