About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically Veterans Integrated Service Network 19 located in Greenwood Village, Colorado, has issued a Special Notice of Intent for a sole source procurement of medical equipment. The notice pertains to the acquisition of a Madsen Astera 2 Audiometer and related accessories from NATUS SENSORY, INC, a small business manufacturer based in Orlando, Florida. The procurement involves purchasing one Madsen Astera 2 device, a touchscreen software kit, new product installation, and a half-day training session for audiologists. The equipment will replace an existing GSI Audiostar Pro audiometer and is intended to be compatible with NATUS Otometric devices already implemented across Montana's audiology clinics. The procurement follows Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) guidelines for sole source procurement.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors about the VA's intent to award a non-competitive contract to NATUS SENSORY, INC for specialized audiological equipment. Interested parties have until 1:00 PM Mountain Standard Time on March 11, 2025, to submit responses demonstrating their capability to meet the government's requirements. To be considered, contractors must provide comprehensive evidence addressing five specific requirements, including compatibility with existing NATUS Otometric devices and the ability to support standardization goals across audiology clinics. Eligible participants should submit relevant documentation such as specifications, cut sheets, brochures, and capability statements to jason.lawrence3@va.gov. The VA emphasizes that this notice is not a request for competitive quotes, and the determination to proceed with a non-competitive procurement remains solely at the government's discretion. The final procurement will include device installation by a NATUS technician and training for audiologists, with all items to be delivered simultaneously and processed through BioMed/Logistics.
