About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 8 is procuring an Upgraded Wander Guard System, a patient tracking and security solution that includes hardware, installation, testing, and one year of cellular service. The system must utilize Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for indoor patient tracking with 3-10 foot accuracy updated every minute, cellular GPS for outdoor tracking of eloped patients, and door/elevator alarms activated by patient wearables. All Wander Guard technicians must be manufacturer-certified with a minimum of two qualified employees required to perform the work. The contractor must provide comprehensive training consisting of eight sessions across two sequences per floor, system programming, and all installation labor. Evaluation will be based on technical conformance, delivery schedule, and price. The original response deadline was February 20, 2026, at 4:30 PM Eastern Time, with vendor questions due by February 12, 2026, at 12:30 PM; however, this solicitation has been cancelled as of April 9, 2026, and will be resolicited under a separate solicitation at a later date.

This procurement is set aside exclusively for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) under a firm fixed-price contract structure. The work will be performed at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center located at 1601 Southwest Archer Road, Gainesville, Florida 32608, specifically covering the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors of the Bed Tower and the 3rd floor of the Community Living Center. The system deliverables include 4 gateways, 425 battery-powered anchors, 29 access control readers, 3 presence sensors, 11 push buttons, 13 Android monitors, 11 delayed egress magnetic locks, 50 rechargeable wearable transmitters with tamper-resistant locking bands, 4 charging docks, and 4,000 feet of CAT6A cabling. The contractor must provide yearly cellular service for the base period plus up to four optional years of service. A non-mandatory but highly encouraged site visit was scheduled for February 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Gainesville VA Medical Center, with check-in at the Bed Tower Lobby on the First Floor.
