About this opportunity

NASA's Shared Services Center has published a Special Notice for the procurement of 50 cryogenic ball valves required for operations at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The agency intends to award a sole source contract to CENTRO, INC. of Memphis, Tennessee under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), having determined that this company is the sole provider of the required cryogenic ball valves. The procurement falls under NAICS code 332911 for Industrial Valve Manufacturing and will utilize commercial acquisition procedures under FAR Parts 12 and 13. NASA/NSSC will serve as the procuring center, with performance taking place at the Stennis Space Center facility. The requirement specifically calls for two types of Worcester Series 44 valve assemblies: 25 units of 1-inch valves and 25 units of 2-inch valves, each with detailed technical specifications including stainless steel bodies and explosion-proof switches.

The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform the contracting community of NASA's intent to proceed with sole source procurement while providing an opportunity for other qualified organizations to demonstrate their capabilities. Interested contractors must submit their qualifications and capabilities in writing by 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on July 31, 2025, with oral communications explicitly not accepted. NASA will evaluate these submissions solely to determine whether the procurement should be conducted on a competitive basis rather than sole source, though the final decision remains at the government's discretion. The technical requirements include delivery within 12-14 weeks after receipt of order to Building 4010 at Stennis Space Center, with the valves featuring specialized cryogenic capabilities and various end connections suitable for NASA's space operations infrastructure.
