About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command Fort Hood is seeking to procure 2 industrial-grade 3D printers capable of high-performance additive manufacturing with advanced materials. The procurement requires printers with substantial technical specifications including a minimum build volume of 400mm x 400mm x 300mm, capability to print with carbon- and glass-fiber reinforced polymers, high-temperature print heads reaching up to 500°C, and precision closed-loop motion systems. Additional requirements include actively managed heated and cooled chambers, production speeds of at least 1 kg/day with an objective of 2 kg/day, low maintenance operation (less than 1 hour per month), and advanced connectivity features including touchscreen interface with CANBUS, Wi-Fi, and USB capabilities. The government will evaluate proposals based on total price, requiring that proposed pricing reflects a clear understanding of requirements and consistency across all offer elements. Vendors must complete the attached instruction document and submit their responses by September 12, 2025, for delivery to Fort Cavazos, Texas by November 14, 2025.

This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting competition to qualified small business entities under NAICS code 532490 (Other Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing). No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the pre-solicitation notice. While no specific budget range or award value is disclosed, the technical requirements suggest a substantial investment given the industrial-grade specifications for high-temperature, multi-material printing capabilities with advanced automation features. The quantity is limited to exactly 2 units, indicating a focused procurement for specific operational needs at the Fort Cavazos installation. The timeline from solicitation posting to required delivery spans approximately 10 weeks, providing vendors with one week to prepare responses and roughly 9 weeks for manufacturing and delivery once awarded.
