About this opportunity
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) regarding 30mm Programmable Air Burst Ammunition for the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV-30) Mission Role Variant. The RFI focuses on gathering technical data and information about 30mm airburst rounds that are currently produced, previously produced, or in active development. Specifically, the USMC is interested in rounds with a deliberate mode of operation that can activate the warhead while in flight prior to impact. The ACV-30 is currently equipped with a Kongsberg Remote Weapon Station and a 30mm Mark 44 Modification 4 Automatic Gun, and the Marines are exploring potential airburst solutions to address current and emerging threat environments. This market research inquiry is designed to collect information from potential contractors about their capabilities and technical specifications.
Contractors interested in responding to this RFI must submit an executive summary of no more than 15 pages on 8-1/2 x 11 inch paper by 4:00 PM Eastern Time on May 30, 2025. The submission should be emailed to Kendel Phillips and include detailed contractor contact information, business size, and a white paper demonstrating capabilities and past performance. It is critical to understand that this is a market research inquiry only and not a solicitation for proposals, meaning no contract will be awarded from this announcement. Contractors are not eligible to recover any costs associated with preparing and submitting their response. All subsequent procurement notifications will be posted on the System for Award Management (SAM) website, and potential contractors are encouraged to register to receive updates. The USMC emphasizes that responses to this RFI are not considered offers and cannot be accepted to form a binding contract, in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 15.201(e).

Update #2 · Latest ·
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is currently working to field an Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) Mission Role Variant (MRV) armed with a 30mm Remote Weapon Station (RWS) manufactured by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA). This MRV, identified as the ACV-30, employs a 30mm Mark (MK) 44 Modification (MOD) 4 Automatic Gun as its primary weapon. The MK 44 MOD 4 is a member of the Bushmaster® II Chain Gun® family. The USMC is investigating the potential integration of a 30mm airburst solution into the ACV-30 to address both current and emerging threat sets.
This market research inquiry seeks technical data and other related information on 30mm airburst rounds currently produced, previously produced, or in active development by Respondent. For the purposes of this inquiry, an airburst round is one that contains at least one deliberate mode of operation that initiates or otherwise activates the warhead or payload while in flight prior to impact.
