About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Space Command is seeking to procure wet weather parkas for the 30th Security Forces Squadron (30 SFS) through a solicitation targeting small businesses. The contract requires the procurement of 650 waterproof parkas across five size ranges, designed with three-layer nylon material that provides wind and water protection while maintaining breathability. Key technical requirements include Bemis seam tapes, Dintex lining, nylon-reinforced elbows, OCP pattern compatibility, and features that ensure personnel can maintain operational effectiveness in adverse weather conditions. The solicitation will evaluate potential vendors based on price, technical acceptability, and delivery schedule, with offers due by April 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Vendors must meet the NAICS code 315990 classification for apparel manufacturing and adhere to specific performance specifications outlined in the solicitation documents.

The contract is set aside for small businesses, specifically with a size standard of 600 employees, and will be awarded for delivery to Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc, California. The total quantity includes 70 Small, 200 Medium, 250 Large, 100 X-Large, and 30 2XL sized parkas, with a planned delivery date of May 23, 2025. The procurement is driven by the need to replenish perishable clothing supplies for the 517 assigned security forces members, ensuring they have appropriate gear for responding to incidents in inclement weather. The parkas are designed to be lightweight, versatile enough for tactical missions and daily wear, and include features like adjustable hoods, drawstring waists, and multiple storage pockets. While no specific award value is mentioned, the contract represents a critical equipment replacement for the Air Force Space Command's security personnel.

Notice text

The 30th Security Forces Squadron (30 SFS) requires adequate supply of wet/foul weather clothing items for the 517 assigned members. Currently, no stock exists to outfit SFS members for wet weather conditions but rather, only jackets for cold weather conditions. Defenders are required to respond to incidents in the elements during inclement and rainy weather seasons. Properly equipping personnel requires them to have wet weather gear to ensure senses are not degraded due to adverse weather and foul conditions. The clothing items are considered consumables and cannot be reissued to other defenders. Due to PCS and the current inability to issue season-round wet weather gear, this purchase allows the replenishment of perishable supplies that are required IAW DAFI 31-101. The size standard is 600 employees.
