About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime is conducting a pre-solicitation market survey for the procurement of a Gear Set, Spur, Match under NSN 3020-00-089-3610. The agency is seeking to identify potential manufacturers or suppliers capable of producing this specialized gear set, which is classified under NAICS code 333612 for Speed Changer, Industrial High-Speed Drive, and Gear Manufacturing. Currently, Triumph Engine Control Systems LLC (CAGE 11599) is the only approved source for Part Number 76489, and the item carries an AMC/AMSC designation of "3 D," indicating it must be procured from the actual manufacturer due to government ownership limitations on technical data and manufacturing rights. Companies interested in becoming qualified suppliers must demonstrate their ability to manufacture the product to the same quality level or better than the Original Equipment Manufacturer through DLA's Source Approval Request (SAR) Program. The response deadline for this market survey is October 3, 2025, with Contract Specialist Travis Grafton serving as the primary point of contact.
This procurement opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations, making it available to all qualified contractors regardless of size. The survey indicates a requirement for 79 units with an option for an additional 79 units, bringing the total potential quantity to 158 units. Triumph Engine Control Systems LLC appears to be the current incumbent supplier, holding the exclusive approved source status for this particular gear set. The government's acquisition approach reflects the specialized nature of this component, where limited competition exists due to proprietary manufacturing data and the uneconomical nature of reverse engineering or purchasing manufacturing rights. Companies responding to the survey will need to address their manufacturing capabilities, delivery timelines, pricing structures, and willingness to pursue a firm fixed-price contract arrangement.
