About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command's 81st Training Wing at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi is seeking to contract civilian aircraft performers for their 2025 open house airshow scheduled for October 31 through November 2, 2025. Specifically, the government requires two T-6 Texan aircraft to participate in the airshow themed "A Legacy of Air Force Innovation," which will feature the Thunderbirds as the headline act alongside flying demonstrations, acrobatic performances, and static aircraft displays. The T-6 Texan aircraft are desired because they represent both historical continuity and modern advancement in Air Force training, making them ideal for the innovation-focused theme. The Performance Work Statement provides additional contract requirements and specifications for the aircraft participation. Interested parties must submit their responses by August 25, 2025, providing only six days from the posting date for proposal preparation.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations, making it open to all qualified contractors who can provide the specified T-6 Texan aircraft services. The contract seeks exactly two T-6 Texan aircraft to participate in the three-day airshow event from October 31 through November 2, 2025. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the pre-solicitation notice. The government has not disclosed specific budget ranges or award values for this aircraft performance contract. The procurement represents part of a larger airshow featuring both Department of Defense aircraft currently in service and civilian heritage "warbirds" aircraft, indicating this T-6 contract is one component of multiple aircraft participation agreements for the event.
Notice text
The 81st Training Wing, Keesler AFB, Mississippi will be hosting an open house, which will be headlined by the Thunderbirds from the 31st of October through the 2nd of November 2025. The theme will be “A Legacy of Air Force Innovation” where the base will showcase airpower for the public using both flying/acrobatic demonstrations as well as static displays of airframes. As such, in addition to contemporary DoD aircraft currently in service there is a need for civilian aircraft as well as heritage and/or "warbirds" to be contracted/receive renumeration for their appearance.
A (2) T-6 Texan would be an outstanding addition for Keesler AFB's "Legacy of Innovation" themed air show as it perfectly embodies both historical continuity and modern advancement in Air Force training.
