About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force United States Air Forces in Europe - Air Forces Africa intends to procure two network testers for close-end and distant-end applications, with a sources-sought notice due July 31, 2026. No set-aside is anticipated.

The network testers must support Ethernet testing from 1G through 400G in a single portable platform, with an upgradeable architecture enabling initial deployment at up to 100G and later software-licensed upgrades to 400G without hardware replacement. Required testing methodologies include EtherBERT/BERT, RFC 2544, ITU-T Y.1564 EtherSAM, RFC 6349, Fibre Channel (1X-32X), and OTN BERT. Hardware must feature automated optical transceiver validation (iOptics) that automatically detects and validates pluggable optics and cables, with broad transceiver compatibility supporting SFP28, QSFP28, QSFP-DD, QSFP112, OSFP, AOC, and DAC cables. The equipment must be portable and rugged for use in data centers, metro/core networks, and 5G transport environments during installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and service activation. Cloud-enabled reporting integration is required for uploading results, report generation, collaboration, and centralized record management.

Companies interested in delivering network testers with these salient characteristics should contact Mrs. Svetlana Allendorf at Svetlana.Allendorf.ru@us.af.mil. Technical inquiries may also reach TSgt Christopher Parish (christopher.parish.2@us.af.mil) or SSgt Jon Knaebel (jon.knaebel@us.af.mil) at DSN 314-489-6717.
