About this opportunity
NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Philadelphia is conducting market research to identify contractors capable of repairing a commercial aircraft component (NSN 7RH 1680 015855253 P8; P/N 824392-2-003) used on the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. The P-8A, derived from the Boeing 737-800 commercial airliner, utilizes unmodified commercial common items that are identical to those found on civilian 737 aircraft, and this requirement involves repairing one such commercial off-the-shelf component. Interested contractors must be capable of providing FAA-certified parts with proper airworthiness documentation, including FAA Form 8130-3 Airworthy Approval Tags from certified repair stations compliant with 14 CFR Part 145. The government lacks proprietary technical data and drawings for this component, meaning contractors must have independent access to necessary repair documentation. Responses to this sources sought notice are due by October 16, 2025, just eight days after the posting date of October 8, 2025.
This pre-solicitation currently has no set-aside designation, though NAVSUP WSS specifically seeks responses from small businesses, including service-disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone-certified, and 8(a)-certified firms. Based on market research responses, the agency may implement a small business set-aside or proceed with full and open competition for the actual solicitation. The notice does not identify any incumbent contractors or previous awardees for this specific repair requirement. No contract values, budget ranges, or quantity specifications are provided in this market research phase, as the government is still determining the scope and structure of the eventual procurement. The requirement falls under NAICS code 336413 (Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing) and PSC 1680 (Miscellaneous Aircraft Accessories and Components).
