About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to award a sole-source contract to Axon Enterprise, Inc. for TASER 10 conducted energy devices, associated equipment, and services, with an estimated value of $8,841,031.01 and a period of performance from September 30, 2026 to September 29, 2027.
The VA's Office of Security and Law Enforcement justifies the sole-source award on the basis of proprietary patented technology and integration requirements with the existing Axon Evidence digital evidence management system (Evidence.com) already in use across VA law enforcement operations. Market research confirmed no alternative conducted energy device manufacturer can satisfy the VA's operational, interoperability, cybersecurity, and evidentiary integrity requirements without substantial cost duplication and operational disruption. The TASER 10's ten-shot capacity, individually deployable probes, and integrated laser and telemetry features are not available from competing manufacturers. The requirement supports deployment and standardization across 139 VA Police Departments and the Law Enforcement Training Center. Supplies include approximately 1,700 TASER 10 devices with warranties, 1,700 holsters, 197 multi-bay docking stations, 2,077 tactical battery packs with warranties, approximately 52,000 cartridges, one TASER 10 Deployment PSO Starter Federal package, and digital evidence services. The TASER 10 is classified as a firearm under the Gun Control Act of 1968 and therefore cannot be acquired through GSA Schedule. The Contracting Officer certified the justification on September 18, 2026, and the Competition Advocate approved the action the same date. NAICS code 332994; PSC 1095. Place of performance not specified.
