About this opportunity
The Naval Air Warfare Center (NAVAIR) is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) for a 1-7/16" diameter Wire Rope, part number A92791-38-3000, which is a Critical Safety Item (CSI) used in aircraft launch and recovery equipment for the United States Navy. This pre-solicitation notice is seeking potential manufacturers capable of producing this specialized wire rope in accordance with specific government drawing specifications. Interested manufacturers must submit a one-page capability statement and complete DD2345 form to Clement Slavick to obtain the detailed drawing package. The Navy will use the Source Approval Request (SAR) process to evaluate manufacturers' capabilities, focusing on quality, traceability, and subvendor control. The current RFI period runs from March 21, 2025, to April 21, 2025, with responses to be sent directly to the specified Navy contact email.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate any specific set-aside designations or incumbent contractors. No specific award value or budget range is disclosed in the documentation. The wire rope is classified under NAICS category 332618 for Other Fabricated Wire Product Manufacturing and PSC category 4010 for Chain and Wire Rope. The SAR approval process is item-specific, meaning manufacturers will only receive approval for this exact wire rope specification if they successfully demonstrate their manufacturing capabilities. Potential manufacturers must be prepared to provide comprehensive documentation about their production processes, quality assurance methods, and previous manufacturing experience with similar critical aerospace components. The Navy's evaluation will be stringent, given the critical safety nature of the wire rope in aviation recovery systems.
