US Army Yuma Proving Ground Ground Combat Systems, Maintenance Division Bldg 2688, Higgins Avenue Yuma, Arizona 85365

TEDT-YPY-MA 20 November, 2018

Subject: Brand Name Letter for YPG, GCS, Maint Div, SolidWorks Subscription

1. YPGs Metal Working Branch currently uses Solid Works Premium. This is a powerful CAD software for use of developing 3 D designs and works in conjunction with “Computer Numerically Controlled” (CNC) metal fabricating machines. This CAD software has been used for approximately 10 years at YPG and is a proven CAD software with a current “Certificate of Networthiness” (CoN). The developer of this product is “Dassault Systemes”. The subscription supported the latest version of SolidWorks 2014 has now lapsed. And while the former vendor for this product, Digital Dimensions where the subscription was originally attained is no longer available as it has been bought out by another company, the need is still required.

2. To date, countless designs, parts, blueprints and processes have been developed by way of SolidWorks by YPG employees. These jobs are legible and editable only by Solid Works.

Years of jobs, training and experience have been poured in YPG’s Metal Working Branch’s personnel by use of this product and this investment must continue and not be wasted. To “fit form and function” with what has already been developed by YPGs Metal Working Branch, it is imperative that a renewed subscription for this same product be implemented as soon as reasonable possible.

3. For the reasons listed above YPG requests a renewed subscription of SolidWorks developed by Dassault Systemes.

4. For additional concerns, Mr. James Ingram is on hand to address any technical questions.
