STATEMENT OF WORK
For
Purchase of High-Voltage Xenon Flash System
Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) R12 Physics and Engineering Branch in the Detonation Physics Laboratory has a requirement for the procurement of a high voltage xenon flash system. This new unit would replace an aging Cordin Model 607 flash unit.
This flash unit is used to illuminate high-speed cameras for detonation events.
2.0 SCOPE
The Contractor shall deliver one (1) high-voltage xenon flash system, according to the requirements stated below, to NSWC IHD.
3.0 REQUIREMENTS
The xenon flash system consists of a xenon flash unit, a sacrificial flash head, and hook-up wire to connect the two pieces. The xenon flash unit shall have the following specifications ( equivalent to the Cordin Model 607 being replaced) at a minimum:
- Light pulse width of300 µs (within 80% of peak brightness) for maximum light output
- Maximum light pulse power of 6 million watts
- Adjustable light pulse power
- Flash response time of230 µs (time of trigger to 90% output)
- Intensity of 100 million Lux at a 2 meter distance (30 million :ft-lamberts at 6 feet)
- Capable ofremote trigger from a +3.3V to +25V signal
Additionally, the entire flash system will utilize a sacrificial flash head that can be located up to
100 feet from flash unit. The following sacrificial components shall be included:
- Five (5) sacrificial flash heads
- Two (2) runs of hook-up wire appropriate for connecting the flash head to the flash unit at a distance of 100 feet. That is, if four ( 4) wires are need to connect the flash head to the flash unit, then two (2) 100-:ft lengths of each of the four ( 4) wires will be provided.
4.0 PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
The contract base period of performance shall be until September 30, 2022.
