About this file

This document is an Invitation to Bid (ITB) issued by the University of Washington's Housing & Food Services (HFS) for the reupholstery of the Husky Den dining area in the Husky Union Building. The awarded supplier will be responsible for removing the existing upholstery, performing the reupholstery work off-site, and then reinstalling the finished product. This project will be phased to ensure some seating remains available for dining patrons. The ITB has a mandatory walkthrough on September 13, 2024, with responses due on September 20, 2024. The contract is expected to be awarded in early October 2024, with the ideal work period between December 1, 2024, and January 3, 2025. No work will be permitted from January 6 to March 14, 2025, with a secondary work period from March 15 to March 30, 2025.

The ITB outlines several minimum qualifications for bidders, including relevant experience, an office/workshop location within 200 miles of Seattle, a current business license, access to necessary upholstery materials, and the ability to provide appropriate transportation and labor to complete the project on schedule. The contract will be awarded to one supplier, but HFS is open to a multiple award if there is a compelling reason to do so. This solicitation is being conducted solely through the University of Washington's Workday Strategic Sourcing system.

Invitation To Bid # GSHRUP1024 Housing & Food Services (HFS) Reupholstery for HUB Husky Den

SCOPE OVERVIEW

Husky Den is a food court style dining location in the Husky Union Building at the University of Washington Seattle Campus that was last remodeled in 2012. Awarded supplier to remove and perform work off site in their workspace, reupholstery, deliver/return finished product and reinstall in the same location. On site work is not feasible or allowed for this project. HFS is requiring that the awarded vendor’s insurance will cover these items during transit and while at the reupholstery location including any subcontractors used during this project. HFS intends to award to one supplier but is open to a multiple award if there is a compelling reason to do so. HFS will determine this during the evaluation process. Awarded supplier to reupholster entire booth (seat and back). No wood refinishing required or desired. Upon discovery of structural repairs needed, discuss with owner before installing new upholstery. Subcontracting may be used for pick-up, delivery, and installation for this project. Reupholstery work must be done by bidding supplier’s personnel/employees.

This project with banquet seating shall be performed in phases. All of the booth (approx. 70’) cannot be removed at one time because we need to have some seating remaining for the dining patrons. Phasing and sequencing TBD following award.
