About this file
This document is a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the Wilson County School District in North Carolina seeking a vendor to provide, install, and train staff on weapons detection systems for up to five entryways across three of the district's traditional high schools. The district is anticipating that each entryway will be supported by a single-lane scanner system designed to effectively and efficiently screen for weapons while ignoring common, harmless objects in order to improve student, staff, and visitor safety. Proposals must be submitted to the district's central office by March 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM EDT. The district's Board of Education will review proposals and award a contract at their meeting on April 15, 2024.
The RFP outlines detailed technical and functional requirements for the proposed weapons detection systems, including that they must be fully automated, capable of detecting concealed weapons, able to ignore harmless items, portable, compatible with the district's existing security camera system, and provide local data storage and remote monitoring capabilities. The vendor must also provide training, ongoing technical support, and references from at least three current clients, two of which must be school districts. Proposals will be evaluated based on cost, technical specifications, availability of products and services, and the vendor's overall qualifications and ability to serve the district's needs.
