1. Introduction
The Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, located on Virginia Key Florida is a 6-story (5 floors and basement) research facility owned by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The facility is served by a single York Codepack Chiller system (which replaced the facilities original chiller), located in the 4th floor, is connected to a cooling tower, via condenser water pumps and chilled water pumps. The main chiller is in good working order. An off peak thermal ice storage chiller and storage system, located in the ground level, was added to the plant via a program with Florida Power & Light (FP&L). There are currently 2 years remaining on this 10-year energy services project arrangement with FP&L.
2. Scope This Statement of Work (SOW) details the requirements for replacement, installation and testing of mechanical and electrical components to change the coils system inside the ground level chiller.
3. General
3.1. Chiller specifications
The ground level chiller is located on ground level, close to the south side of the building towards the Rickenbacker Causeway.
• Volts/Ph/HZ: 460V/3/60Hz
• Tonnage: 180 tons
• Model Number: YCAS0180EC46YFA
• Refrigerant: R22
• Single point power connection with non-fused disconnect switch and separate system circuit breakers
• York rotary twin-screw compressor. Independent refrigerant circuits with liquid line stop valves with charging ports, liquid line filter driers, liquid line solenoid stop valves, moisture indicator-sight glasses and direct- acting thermal expansion valves
• Direct expansion type shell and tube cooler with ½” insulation
• Air-cooled condenser with 3-pahse totally enclosed fan motors, sub-cooling circuit and ambient control to 25°

5. Requirements
5.1. Freon:
a. Freon shall be recovered and stored on site for recharge.
5.2. Condenser coils:
a. The bad condenser coils shall be removed from the station and stored on site for removal by NOAA facility personnel
5.3. Condenser fans:
a. Condenser fans shall be removed and stored in a safe location as not to be scratch, dented or damage in any form and reinstall on a later time, after coils have been replaced.
6. List of Government Furnished Material
a. N/A
7. Technical Tasks
7.1. Evaluate existing coil system
a. Evaluate existing coils for integrity and capacity.
7.2. Coil Installation
a. Work with AOML personnel to determine the exact position where condenser fans will be temporarily stored.
b. The new condenser shall be coated with Polly blend urethane that is designed to resist corrosive effects of salt laden coastal environments, and inhibits mold and mildew growth.
c. Condenser fans will be reinstalled and tested for proper rotation.
d. Prior to departing for the day, the chiller will be on pressure test for morning recharge liquid line filters will need to be replaced, as they are exposed to environmental exposure.
7.3. Testing and Certification
a. The new condenser coils shall be install and leak tested overnight with dry nitrogen.
The chiller will be recharge pending on overnight leak test results.
b. Circuits will be properly evacuated and recharged. Circuits and fans will be checked for proper operation.

NOTES:
1. Placement on a level surface free of obstructions (including snow, for winter operation) or air recirculation ensures rated performance, reli-able operation and ease of maintenance. Site restrictions may compromise minimum clearances indicated below, resulting in unpredictable air flow patterns and possible diminished performance. YORK’s unit controls will optimize operation without nuisance high pressure safety cutout; however, the system designer must consider potential performance degradation. Access to the unit control center assumes the unit is no higher than on spring isolators. Recommended minimum clearances: Side to wall - 6'; rear to wall - 6'; control panel end to wall - 4'; top
- no obstructions allowed; distance between adjacent units - 10'. No more than one adjacent wall may be higher than the unit.
