About this file
This document is Addendum #5 to a Water Station Installation Services RFP for Flint Community Schools in Flint, Michigan, containing questions and answers regarding the installation of approximately 130 water stations throughout district facilities. The installation work must occur after school hours (until approximately 10-11 PM) or during breaks/weekends (8 AM-4 PM). The scope includes installing new water coolers with bottle fillers, handling both plumbing and electrical work where needed, and addressing approximately 17 abandoned water station locations.
The addendum clarifies several technical and pricing considerations, including: plumbing contractors being responsible for electrical work modifications, rejection of alternative Elkay fixtures in favor of specified Murdock fixtures, approval of stainless steel covers for demolished masonry areas, and confirmation that water stations in unoccupied portions of the Accelerated Learning Academy (approximately 4 units) are excluded from the project scope. The document indicates that any existing electrical components must either be utilized for the new water stations or properly capped if not needed.

Question 8: Most of the new water coolers with the bottle filler added to them will be above the stainless steel or RFP backsplash. See photo (DW037A,WC020). will this be acceptable?
Yes.
WATER STATION INSTALLATION SERVICES RFP - FLINT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS
Question 7: Electrical issues, most of your water coolers are getting power from a receptacle below the unit. Are we to move this? See photo (01DW003).
Any electrical issues that are present must be utilized for the new water stations or be capped if not needed in the installation.
No.
Question 6: As for the abandon water stations are we responsible for re installing a water station? (approx. 17, would affect price substantially)
These were envisioned in the original quote as re-installs. The approximate number of the installs is 130. If they are not in the original number then, they would be replaced on a case by case basis.
Question 4: Are plumbing contractors responsible for electrical work (adding & reworking)?
Yes, where needed.
Question 5: Would a equivalent Elkay type fixture be an alternative to the current Murdock fixture? (to reduce re rough plumbing work, would affect price substantially)
Question 2: At the Accelerated Learning Academy, half the school is unoccupied, is this in the scope of work? (approx. 8, would affect price substantially)
Only the water stations that are in the portion of the building currently occupied would be a part of the project, approximately 4.
Question 3: Would stainless steel covers be acceptable much like you currently have for demolished masonry and other walls?
Yes.
Note: See Bidder questions below with answers from the District in blue. If your question does not appear below, it may be that it is already answered in the RFP or in answer to a similar question, or that the District has deemed that an answer is unnecessary to successful bidding.

Question 1: What shift/time of day would be allowable for this project?
