About this file
This document is a specification for two walk-in plant growth chambers to be delivered to the USDA ARS DKI PBARC facility in Hilo, Hawaii. The chambers must have 144 sq ft of growing area that can accommodate plant heights from 20 to 72 inches, with the ability to switch between vertical and horizontal airflow. The chambers require an air-cooled refrigeration system designed for Hilo's climate, sealed vestibules, and HEPA-filtered air exhaust. Key specifications include programmable controls, 1000 μmol/m2/s lighting intensity, temperature range of 10-35°C, humidity up to 70% RH, and supplemental CO2 control. The vendor must provide a 3-year warranty, annual preventative maintenance, and third-party electrical certification. This requirement is covered under NAICS code 334516, and the government is seeking information from small businesses, HUBZone, service-disabled veteran-owned, 8(a), veteran-owned, woman-owned, and small disadvantaged businesses to determine the appropriate acquisition method. Responses are due by August 2, 2024.
