About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document related to RFQ W91ZLK-25-Q-0011 for a 30-ton semi tractor, providing clarifications about technical specifications and requirements. The document addresses five key questions regarding the vehicle specifications, including confirmation that while vehicle age/mileage is not strictly limited, new vehicles are preferred due to warranty coverage and reliability concerns. The technical requirements specify the need for two drive axles (tandems) plus a third lift axle, a wheelbase requirement of 330+ inches, and dual wheels on the lift axle as mandatory features.
The Q&A clarifies that rail ramps with 11 5/8" frame rails are not available from the factory, but different sizes are acceptable. This document appears to be part of a larger solicitation package from the Army Contracting Command - Aberdeen Proving Ground for a commercial semi tractor, with responses due by February 17, 2025.

Questions and Responses for 30 Ton Semi Tractor
1. Does the year of the vehicle or mileage matter?
Answer: Just for preference, yes, I would rather have a new truck for several reasons such as the factory warranty, low mileage guarantee, and the fact that we know what we are getting vs a problem child that someone got rid of because of issues. Also, I don’t know that it must be brand new by there year as I am sure that there are plenty of trucks available that were built in the last couple of years but didn’t sell although it may prove difficult to find one that meets the mission requirements that we must meet.
2. Are you looking for two or three drive axles in addition to the lift axle?
Answer: We are looking for a set of tandems (two drive axels) and a 3rd lift axle.
3. Any wheelbase great than 314 inches requires engineering approval?
Answer: Our current tractors are 330+ inches and that is our current requirement.
4. Rail ramps are not available from the factory with 11 5/8” frame rails?
Answer: Rail ramps are not available from the factory with 11 5/8” frame rails- Different sizes will suffice, not a requirement
5. The system is not allowing dual tires on each side of the lift axle?
Answer: Our current tractors are equipped with dual wheels on the lift axle and that is our current requirement.
