QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
QUESTION 1: Can we get access to the log boom from the east bank?
ANSWER 1: No, all access to the log boom will be from the west bank. The east bank has a steep, forested embankment with no access for vehicles.
QUESTION 2: What is the river depth at the log boom?
ANSWER 2: The river is approximately 16-20 feet deep at the log boom.
QUESTION 3: What happens when it rains?
ANSWER 3: It depends on the weather conditions leading up to the rain event. If the ground is relatively dry, the rain may be absorbed into the ground with little to no runoff into the river. However, if there have been several days of rain, the ground may be saturated and additional rain may run off into the river. If there is enough rain running into the river, there is a chance that the Project could go into flood conditions. If flood conditions occur when the debris removal services are scheduled, the Government may have to postpone the service due to increased flows. Services are generally scheduled for July and August during normal lowest flow seasons.
QUESTION 4: Does the concrete at the dam intake extend all the way to the river bottom?
ANSWER 4: Yes, the concrete trash rack extends all the way to the river bottom.
QUESTION 5: Can we get information about how many truck loads of debris were removed last year? Are there any photos?
ANSWER 5: The Government does not keep track of the number of truck loads of debris that were removed in previous years. Please refer to the attached photos from the 2022 Debris Removal solicitation for debris conditions prior to removal.
QUESTION 6: There is a lot of debris already in the “Stump Dump” debris storage area.
What if we run out of space?
QUESTION 6: The Government will plan to push back the debris that is currently in the debris storage area prior to the start of services. If the debris storage area fills up during the contract services, the Government will be responsible for pushing back the debris to make more room.
