QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. Q: There is not much information in the RFQ about heavy equipment handling and if there will be a crane available or any other lifting equipment to remove the cylinders for repair. Can you provide more detail on this?

A: (i) A Government owned crane is available for Contractor use if the qualifications in EM 385-1-1, Section 16.B.03 are met:

(https://www.publications.usace.army.mil/Portals/76/Publications/EngineerManuals/EM_ 385-1-1.pdf

(ii) Contractor may supply their own load handling equipment if they meet the requirements and qualifications stated in the EM 385-1-1, Section 16:

(https://www.publications.usace.army.mil/Portals/76/Publications/EngineerManuals/EM_ 385-1-1.pdf)

2. Q: On page 15 of RFQ W912WJ20Q0116 it says to clean the surfaces in contact with the rod and packing after removing the oil and water packings. I wanted to advise you we won’t be able to get to area where the gland and rod meet assuming the gland is one piece and not a split style. The drawing doesn’t show enough detail to be sure but we’re assuming the gland is one piece. If this is the case, would the cylinders need to be removed and disassembled to access the inside of the glands?

A: The current information to the government is that the hydraulic packings are split chevron style packings.
