SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been added by full text:

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

QUESTION 1: Can the contractor access water at the beach access near the project for the reclaim process?

Answer: Yes, but for the drawing of water as needed for construction only. Discharge of waer will not be allowed into the Ottauquechee River. Drawn water from the Ottauquechee River, to include water brought on site and used by the Contractor, shall be considered process water and must be taken offsite and legally disposed of by the Contractor. Access shall be coordinated with the Technical Point of Contact/Contracting Officer’s Representative.

QUESTION 2: Plans show reclaiming of all existing pavement. A significant amount of material will need to be hauled away in order to put the designed 3.5 inches of HMA back after grading is complete. In the cross sections it does show a cut in elevation so I assume there is some removal, but did the designers anticipate removing at least

3.5 inches of reclaimed material prior to paving?

Answer: In addition to full depth reclamation, there will be areas where the work will require temporary removal and stockpiling of the reclaimed material. This will be required in order to excavate and remove existing subgrade material below reclaimed material depths to elevations that will meet specified finished grading and the requirement to provide a reclaimed material base course with a minimum compacted thickness of 12 inches. It is expected that there will be surplus material that the Contractor will be required to dispose of offsite. Also refer to Key Note 7 on Contract Drawing sheet C-101 and Contract Specification Section 31 00 00, paragraph 3.3.

QUESTION 3: If material is to be removed, is there a waste area approved for this or is it the contractors responsibility to dispose of it? It will be suitable material for other projects being that it’s reclaimed.

Answer: Under this contract there are no approved waste areas onsite. The Contractor shall be responsible for offsite removal of all surplus materials as noted in Section 31 00 00 under paragraph 3.3.

QUESTION 4: Lastly, do the designers have an idea of how much asphalt thickness is on the existing project?

Answer: Quoted price shall be based on an existing asphalt pavement thickness of 3-inches.

PLAN REVISIONS:

On Contract Drawing C-101 under Key Note 7, remove the verbiage '3" OF NEW BITUMINOUS CONCRETE SURFACE COURSE' and replace it with '3.5" OF NEW BITUMINOUS CONCRETE PAVEMENT'.

SECTION A - SOLICITATION/CONTRACT FORM
