W912SR-19-R-0007 – Mission Secret IT Workstations – Vendor Questions as of 8 APR 19

Please provide more information for CLIN’s 10 & 11?

Clin 10: What is this mounting hardware for? Which item needs to be wall mounted?

-Flexpoint mounting hardware is to cover and TEMPEST shield the media convertors that are being purchased for the printers.

Clin 11: What is ‘Tempest Level C’?

Confirmed TEMPEST Level C = TEMPEST Level 1. TEMPEST is the short name for emanations security (EMSEC) within communications security (COMSEC). In this case for this purchase it is the certification for the computer systems that have electromagnetic emanations and have to be protected to prevent electromagnetic data leaks. The data that will be processed in this computer information systems are classified (ie: NATO Secret and NATO/KFOR Mission Secret) therefore are required via the KFOR Tasker 3728 to be TEMPEST protected therefore certified to transverse NS and MS information.

NATO SDIP 27-Level C as Camp Bondsteel’s buildings that require the NATO computers are all deployed in (Emanations Security) EMSEC Zone as Zone 2 which requires the computer and printers to be at the least TEMPEST level C certified.

Who is the provider?

-The provider is any NATO TEMPEST certified vendor.

We can install the requested items but that is not ‘Tempest Level C’. Is that acceptable?

-No, we cannot install the workstations and printers without TEMPEST Level C certification for the KFOR Tasker 3728

Who provides ‘Tempest Level C’?

- NATO TEMPEST certified vendors

1. Line 5 - DVD-Writer G3 – QTY 4

a. The desktops quoted come with DVD writers. Are you needed (4) separate additional ones?

-No. If they do come with DVD writers then, we are fine. We need a minimum of 4 desktops with CD/DVD writing capabilities.

2. Line 7 – Multi-Functional Printer

a. Based on the description I wasn’t sure if you were needing a multifunctional printer quoted or just the converter. Please advise.

We need a minimum of 8 printers. The converter is listed as a separate purchase to be so that the printer is able to process a fiber connection.

If it is for the media converter or technician has the below questions.

i. Media Converter.

- What is the business need? Why are we looking for a media converter?

-All the connections to the network are via fiber instead of CAT 5, copper. Therefore a media converter is needed so the printer can connect to the fiber network. The Printer listed only has a cooper (CAT5) port to connect it on the network and that does not meet our needs.

- What are we trying to convert? (Copper to fiber?)

-Copper to fiber

- What is the fiber? (MMF, SMF) -Multi-Mode Fiber

- What connectors type do we have on the fiber? (SC, ST, MTRJ) -SC or ST. We can convert SC for ST and vice versa if we need to as we use both connectors on site.

- Is the fiber SX? LX? FX? LH? Etc.

-LX

- What speed is on the fiber? (100 base? 1000 base? Etc) For example, is the data being sent over the fiber 100base FX? 1000 base SX? Etc.

-We just need dual for 10/100/1000TX and to 100/1000. There is a project to up the speed of the network and this is compatible for current and any future projects.

- What are we connecting on the other end of the fiber?

-Fiber DVO port to distribution panel or fiber switch

- What are we connecting on the copper side? (managed, unmanaged) -Printer

- What is the speed of the copper side? (10/100? 10/100/1000? Etc.)

-n/a

- What is the distance of the fiber run?

-Varies by location.

- Standalone or chassis style solution?

-Standalone style

- If chassis: How many ports? Management desired on chassis? (recommended) Redundant Power?

- One port is sufficient. No need for redundant power.

- Do you need any other cable or device?

- No

b. If you are needing an actual Multifunctional printer can you please advise if it needs to be color or black & white. Does it need to have 11*17 capability.

Please advise.

-3 Color -5 Black and white -Does not need 11*17 capability

Printer > CAT 5 (copper) > Media converter Base with Transceiver > to Fiber port for network connectivity

3. Line 8 & 9 – Blackbox SFP & Optical Transceiver

a. Transceivers:

-What are we plugging into?

-media convertor -What connection do we need?

-Fiber -How long is the fiber run?

-Varies by location -Multi-mode or single-mode fiber?

-Multi-mode -What will be connected in the other site?

-Printer and fiber drop

- Do you need any other cable or device?

-no other cable needed or device

4. Line 10 – Flexpoint Wallmounting Hardware

a. Is this for the monitors? What will this be used for?

-Flexpoint mounting hardware is to cover and TEMPEST shield the media convertors that are being purchased for the printers.
