TP-3.1 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Scope of Work (SOW):
1. General. The work will involve stabilizing a reservoir bank by re-sloping an area of shoreline and installing a natural toe barrier, creating a pedestrian access, and relocating concrete reef balls. This work shall be accomplished through a BASE (CLIN 0001) line item.
BASE (CLIN 0001):
A. Bank Stabilization Specifications:
1. Resloping approximately 250’ of shoreline with low impact equipment no more than 3:1
a. In order to achieve the 3:1 slope some trees may need to be removed. Tree removal should only be trees affected by the erosion and in close vicinity to the bank. Coordinate and identify the trees requiring removal with POC prior to removal. Trees will be incorporated into the project and anchored between the existing reef balls and reef balls placed at the toe. Debris which are not placed at the project shall be disposed of at a site designated by the Technical POC within the work area.
b. Once resloping and placement of coco fiber coir toe is complete all disturbed areas and the sloped bank shall be prepared for reseeding. Seed used will be from Roundstone Seed LLC, a local resource specializing in native seed for restoration and erosion control purposes.
2. Natural “toe” barrier stabilizing sedimentation using one layer of Coir fiber logs of 16” diameter reinforced with reef balls and incorporating inter-plantings of native erosion control grasses per recommendations of Roundstone Seed LLC and approximately 200-250 live stakes of Cephalanthus occidentalis or Button Bush.
B. Pedestrian Access Specifications:
Pedestrian access will be approximately 200’ long and 6’ wide of using a geowebbing type product that is for recreational trails. Beginning at the head of the trail just beyond the access from the licensed boat ramp and on either side of an ephemeral drain. All rock utilized shall be sound, dense and durable free of toxic pollutants in accordance with the KY DOT.
1. In addition to the recommended fill for the geowebbing the pathway will be topped with #9 or pea gravel.
2. Placement and rip rap is necessary on either side of the creek for both bank stabilization and an anchor point for the geowebbing. Geowebbing will not cross the creek.
3. Three “T” posts to prohibit vehicular access will be placed at the beginning of the pathway and on either side of the creek access point. Refer to Figure 1 for approximate locations.
4. All dirt accumulated from excavation for the geowebbing will be distributed on site as fill for areas compacted from equipment use beyond the pedestrian access.
C. Reef Ball Relocation:
The Corps shall provide approximately 29 reef balls that will be at the staging area. These are to be placed where summer pool level is approximately 1-2 feet below the top of the reef balls. Summer pool level is 515' MSL. That is in front of the coco fiber coir rolls.
Placement will begin at the point of the site location and work back on either side, staggering to allow for the inter-planting of button bush.
See attachment for reef ball specifications
Considerations:
1. The Technical POC must be contacted prior to starting work to inform the licensed boat ramp
POC timing and the use of the area.
2. Staging area must be left in the same condition prior to use and delivery of products. Any apparent degradation from use as a result of this project will be restored back to the condition it was prior to use.
