NOTES:
1. INSTALL INSULATION SO THAT EACH SECTION IS A SINGLE, CONTINUOUS RUN ACROSS THE FRAME OF THE ROOF. ALLOW 2' OF ADDITONAL INSULATION TO FACILITATE HANDLING AND STRECHING. FASTEN ENDS OF INSULATION TO PURLINS AS
PER DETAIL 28
2.FIRST SECTION OF INSULATION WILL ALIGN WITH END WALL RAFTER OR 6" BEYOND CENTER LINE OF ROOF FRAME, DEPENDING ON METHOD USED TO INSTALL ROOFING. SEE SHEET A12.
3.OVERLAP SECTIONS OF INSULATION ALONG ENTIRE LENGTH 6 INCHES. INSTALL DOUBLE SIDED ADHESIVE TAPE TO SEAL
OVERLAP JOINT.
4.OVERLAP SECTIONS WILL BE DETERMINED BASED ON DIRECTION OF PREVAILING WINDS. LAP SECTIONS AS PER DETAIL 27.
CAUTION: FOIL SIDE OF INSULATION FACES UP, WITH WHITE SIDE FACING DOWN. DO NOT SOIL OR TEAR INSULATION
DURING INSTALLATION. FINAL INSTALLATION MUST PRESENT A PROFESSIONAL FINISH.

ROOF PANELS AND INSULATION INSTALLATION METHODS
Insulation Installation:
1. Prior to the installation of the insulation, determine that the roof frame is SQUARE. The diagonal dimensions of the roof frame (measured from peak of gable to opposite corner of eave overhang must be within ¼ inch.
2. Install insulation so that each section is a single, continuous run, lying across the frame of the roof. Each section begins at purlin located above front wall and ends at purlin located above back wall. Allow a foot of additional insulation (each side) to facilitate handling.
3. Depending upon the method used to install roof, the first section of insulation will align with outside edge of rafter located above either end wall or extend 6 inches beyond center line of roof frame (opposite side of center line from where panels are being started).
4. Foil side of insulation should face up, with white side face down.
5. Overlap sections of insulation along entire length of run 6 inches. Overlap sequence should be determined using direction of prevailing winds.
6. Install double-sided adhesive tape to seal overlap joint.
7. Secure insulation to roof purlins. Remove excess insulation by cutting along bottom edge of purlin. Discard excess.
CAUTION! Do not install more insulation on the roof than can be covered by roof panels before the work period ends. Do not rip, tear or soil insulation during installation. Final installation must present a professional finish.
Roof Panel Installation:
1. Once the first and second runs of insulation have been installed, installation of roofing panels may begin.
2. Roofing panels are designed to be reversible. They may be installed with either edge being used as the leading edge.
3. Required overlap is one rib. This allows a net coverage of 36 inches per panel.
4. Refer to Roof Details in order to determine proper roof panel overhand at eaves and gable ends.
5. Set string lines along eaves of roof frame. Insure that lines do not interfere with installation of roof panels. Roof panels may be installed using either of the following methods:
METHOD 1: Starting at gable ends of roof :
1. The leading edge of the first panel should extend 4 inches beyond the gable end overhang (hat channel fascia). See DWG A12.
2. The end of the first panel should extend past the rafter fascia (eave), just making contact with the string line. The end of the panel must be parallel to the string line. No deformation of the string line should occur due to contact of the panel. The side of the panel should form a straight line along the edge of the gable end overhang.
CAUTION! If roof panel forms a straight line along the edge of the gable end overhang (Method 1) or is parallel to center line of roof frame (Method 2) but does not contact string line squarely, check string line offset dimensions at both ends of roof line.
3. Once roof panel is properly aligned, secure panel to roof frame using appropriate fasteners. Use minimal fasteners to secure panel initially.
4. Place subsequent panels so that overlapping ribs nest properly. Overlap of panels will be such that sidelaps are nested away from prevailing winds. Check for proper overhang and panel coverage.
5. Install tape sealant.
CAUTION! Do not stretch tape sealant during application. Apply only to clean, dry surfaces. Paper cover on top portion of tape sealant should not be removed until rib of adjoining panel aligns properly and eave overhang is correct. Movement of roof panel after application of tape sealant will damage seal, compromising the integrity of the roof.
6. Install remaining fasteners, using fastener driver (screw gun). Drive the fastener in until it is tight and the neoprene washer is firmly seated. A slight extrusion of neoprene is a good visual tightness check. Correct fastener installation is one of the most critical steps when installing roof panels.
CAUTION! Do Not Overdrive fasteners! Note differences between lap tek and tek fasteners. Lap tek fasteners, which are #14 gauge self tapping screws, are to be used to fasten panels at ribs or join trim to panels.
Tek fasteners, which are #12 gauge self tapping screws, are to be used to join panels to roof frame and to join roof frame components, purlins, hat channel fascia, fascia, etc to each other.
