I didn't see in the RFQ for the 41 miles how wide the line is. Is it a standard right-of-way 15' and can we use mechanical trimming equipment like a loftness kwik-trim and a mulcher on a skidsteer? | There is no "right of way" along the boundary line. Per "2.1 Vegetation Clearing" in the Scope of Work, existing vegetation shall be removed along the boundary line so that boundary markers, painted trees and signs are plainly visible. Painted trees are typically within a few feet on either side of the property line. Mechanized equipment is not permitted due to lack of access.
What was the contact value of this bid the last time it was bid out or the value of a similar bid for boundary marking sections around Jordan Lake? Do you have the bid tabulation available or a link to where I can find the information of past bids? | This is a new requirement that has been scaled back from previous requirements. Therefore, a comparison cannot be made to previous bids.
Can you tell me what the average width of the area is or what width would be required to be cut? | There is no required width to cut. When standing on the approximate location of the boundary line (using provided maps and existing paint hashes on trees), there shall be an unobstructed view along the boundary line from one marked tree or boundary marker to the next. The contractor will only be required to cut vegetation that an obstructs the view.
Are there existing standing trees in the right away area that are expected to be removed? | Per the specifications, there may be standing trees on the boundary line or Government property less than 3" DBH that need to be removed.
Is any chemical spraying required? | No chemical spraying is required or expected.
How much paint should I (contractor) be expected to use in a typical section of boundary line? | Past successful contractors have reported using an average of a half gallon of paint per mile.
When was the last time the contract at Lake Jordan was maintained? | The section of boundary line in the contract was last maintained 7 years ago.
