- Filler content: 30% max.
- Surface mass: min 3000g/m2
- Creep temperature: min 70oC
- Folding test: no cracks 20oC
- Folding test: no break 3oC
The vapor barriers shall be glued on the steel deck and welded with 10cm overlap. In order to properly install this layer, a thin water resistant wooden panel Multiplex shall be inserted between the metal and the vapor barrier with 4mm thickness.
TP-2-03:

The minimum thickness of insulation panels shall be 1/3 of the corrugation width of the steel plate. When the corrugation width is larger than 100 mm care should be taken so that the insulation board edges are fully supported. The boards are installed staggered and with closed joints. The waterproofing is applied directly after the installation of the insulation. The boards are mechanically fixed to the steel deck. The amount of fastenings shall be defined according to their quality, the wind load and the thickness of the steel board, with a minimum of 6 fastenings per board in the central roof area and a minimum of 8 per board in the edge zone and in the corners of the roof. Fixation on the roof edge shall be provided. The mechanical fixations to be used shall meet the requirements in compliance with the UEAtc-class II and shall have a minimum diameter of 4.8mm. On the insulation boards, a perforated bituminous layer (15% perforations) suitable for using hot bitumen is applied. The insulation boards are fully bonded to the waterproofing membrane with hot bitumen.
The necessity of a vapor control layer shall be determined by a calculation or by the Technical Information Notice 215 “Flat Roof” from the CSTC (Centre Scientifique et Technique de la Construction). The specific guidelines in this note are applicable.

Water tightness layer The membrane shall be composed of a blend made of specific bitumen modified by noble polymers (high-grade APP also called TPO) & two distinct reinforcements, fiberglass & non-woven polyester.
A 4mm membrane, obtained by coating and surfacing of non woven polyester (150g/m2) and glass membrane (55g/m2) by means of a mixture of specific bitumen, noble thermoplastic atactic polyolefines (TPO) and a “halogen free”, nature friendly, fireproof system.
Inside the membrane, reinforcements shall be off centered towards the upper part with regard to the middle plan. The glass membrane shall be separated from the non woven polyester, and is visible at the upper side of the membrane.
The membrane shall conform to the fire resistance norm pr EN 1187-1, -2 and -3. The finished product shall be totally recyclable. The management system of the production and control of the membrane shall be certified ISO 9002 and ISO 14001.
Technical characteristics
- Thickness: 4mm
- Glass membrane reinforcements: 55 ± 10g/m2
- Non woven polyester
- Heat resistance: 150oC
- Cold flexibility: -20oC
- Resistance to longitudinal traction: 675N/5cm; to transversal traction: 625N/5cm
- Breaking longitudinal elongation: 50%; breaking transversal elongation: 50%
- Dimensional stability: ≤ 0.1% (*)
(*) 15cm shrinking on transversal overlapping and executed according to prescriptions = 0mm.
Welding of membrane Rolls are aligned on the support with an overlapping of 10cm between each other, and folded back. Unroll the watertightness membrane, heating up its lower side to flux it; have the membrane adhere to the support. The overlapping must always be welded with a flame over their entire width of 10cm; edges are then pressed with a ±15kg roller. Transversal overlappings are 15cm. A small quantity of bitumen must flow off the overlapping joint. The bitumen cord may be beveled with the tip of the heated trowel.
Raised parts Raised parts totally shall be adhered by flame welding. Raised water tightness coverings shall be distinct from those applied horizontally, with which they connect at the basis of the 10cm min. overlappings welded with a flame. The angle of the raised part must always have two thicknesses. The edges shall be laid in max. width corresponding to the width of the rolls with an overlapping of 10cm.
Type of membrane: same as described in the “water tightness” item.
Remark Raised parts must at least be 150mm higher than the finished level of the roof, which is determined by the water tightness. Along the acroter, the raised part must be put under the wall cover.
Important remark
By decision of the Fire Chief of the U.S. Army, it is strictly forbidden to install heating devices (i.e. cauldrons) directly on the roof. The solution proposed by the contractor must be approved by the COR and the Fire Chief three (3) weeks before starting the work.
SECTION 3
FINISH WORK
TP-3-01:
Wall cover The contractor shall be responsible for the supply and installation of new wall covers. The dismounting of old wall covers must be included in this item. The model of wall cover proposed by the contractor shall be submitted to the COR’s approval three (3) weeks before installation.
TP-3-02:
Zinc work The contractor shall be responsible for the supply and installation of zinc pieces for the protection and watertightness of all related building roof components along the gutter. The model of zinc work proposed by the contractor shall be submitted to the COR.’s approval before installation.
TP-3-03:
Reinstallation of lightning system The lightning rods and associated cables shall be reinstalled according to Norm IEC 62305. If necessary, additional length of cables shall be foreseen to adapt the system to the new roof. After reinstallation, the installation must be approved by BELAC certified firm (http://economie.fgov.be/en/entreprises/life_enterprise/quality_policy/Accreditation/).
TP-3-04:
Repair metallic roof gutter
The Contractor shall be responsible for the following work:
- Clean and evacuate debris.
- Cut the roof overlapping in the gutter in order to widen the gutter
- Carefully brush the gutter to remove rust particles
- Paint metallic gutter with Steoline ferro paint with zinc and iron phosphate basis
- Lay primer bond coat
- Provide and install polyester finish profile
- Provide and install finish water tight membrane, with accessories and joints
- Provide and install watertight membrane between the gutter and the roof slope
TP-3-05:
Provide and install rainwater inlets The Contractor shall be responsible for the following work:
- Provide and install 24 rainwater inlets with a diameter of 100mm, with connections and opening in the existing roof gutter.
TP-3-06:
Water downspouts The water downspouts and accessories (funnels, elbows, Tees, etc.) shall be made of black Polyethylene High Density (PEHD), of mirror welded type, with Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) connection joints (for aesthetic reasons, electrically welded sleeves are prohibited).Downspouts and accessories shall be BENOR certificated according to norm NBN EN1519.
Water downspouts shall be fitted with appropriated hinged collars every meter. The installation of expansion sleeves and fixed point shall be done according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Characteristics
