SECTION SF 30 BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
The following items are applicable to this modification:
CONTINUATION PAGE
SECTION 31 41 16.00 12
Page 6, paragraph 3.1.2. Delete this paragraph in its entirety and substitute "3.1.2 Reserved" therefore.
SECTION 31 62 14.00 12
Page 2, paragraph 1.1. Delete this paragraph in its entirety and substitute the following therefore:
"1.1 SCOPE
The work covered by this section consists of furnishing all plant, equipment, labor, and materials, and performing all operations in driving probe piles, reaction piles, testing piles, pulling, and removing of reaction piles, in accordance with these specifications and as shown on the drawings. Test methods described herein are in accordance withASTM D1143D. The Contractor shall submit his/her plan for conducting tests to the Contracting Officer for approval a minimum of 30 days prior to the beginning of the tests. The probe pile sites are located on the drawings. Two test sites will be selected from the probe piles for compression testing in accordance with this section. Piles are specified in Section 31 62 13.20 - 12 - PRESTRESSED
CONCRETE PILES."
CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS/USACE RESPONSES
1. Please provide take off quantities for Job items.
Will be provided.
2. Block 10 requires a "Breakaway Wall" where the future Holiday Dr. Box Culvert will tie into the proposed flume. Please provide details of this Breakaway wall.
The breakaway wall details are shown on section A/5-309 and detail 3/5-507.
3. Item 0029 Compression Test Piles has a quantity of 4 each. Section 31 62 14.00 12, paragraph
1.3.1 describes measurement and payment for the compression tests. Paragraph 1.3.2 mentions Probe Piles and that they will not be measured for payment, but to be included at the contract unit price for Compression Pile Load Test.
There are 4 compression tests in item 29 because Pile Test Note 3 on 5-503 gives the Contracting Officer Discretion to order up to 4 tests.
How many Probe Piles are required?
Please see sheet 5-503, note 2 that states "Four probe piles are required. Two probe piles will be selected for load tests.11
Are these Probe Piles to be driven in addition to the 4 test piles?
No, please see sheet 5-503, note 2 that states "Four probe piles are required. Two probe piles will be selected for load tests' The probe pile locations are shown on sheets 5-101, 5-102 and 5103.
Please clarify.
4. Specification section 314116.0012, paragraph 3.1.2 states "Along Holiday Drive, all pilings shall be driven using a non-impact, non-vibratory, press-in driving method for all braced excavations including cofferdams."
No pilings are shown to be driven on Holiday Drive. Please clarify.
No pilings are to be driven along Holiday Drive. This specification paragraph is not applicable and will be deleted by amendment.
5. Specification section 01 53 00.02 12, paragraph 3.1.2 states "The driving method shall be hydraulic press-in or vibration". Paragraph 3.2.1.1 of the same section states "Piling shall be extracted using vibratory and/or hydraulic press-in."
Are there any specific locations that require driving or extracting sheet piling using the press-in method?
No - there are no specific locations that require the press-in method. This method is allowable if the contractor chooses to use it.
6. Entergy has informed us that they cannot provide a cost estimate for their work prior to the bid due date.
How is the Contractor to bid these items when Entergy cannot provide the cost which the Contractor is liable for? The response from Entergy is in regard of the Entergy duct bank which is not the responsibility of the Contractor for payment. Entergy will deactivate the duct bank prior to construction which can subsequently be demolished by the contractor during construction. See G-202.
Can the Government provide a budgetary unit price for Entergy items so all contractors are bidding an equal amount for unknown actual cost. The cost for outages should be available from Entergy. These are the only items where the Contractor is paying Entergy.
7. Drawings state, "Relocate Exist. 8" Water Main" on Indiana St. near stations 100+85, 103+75, 106+65 & "Relocate Exist. 36" Water Main" on Sandra St. near station 201+75. Where is this water main to be relocated to? Is there a contract line item to relocate it? Are there any other water mains to be relocate? Waterlines are to be relocated adjacent to the existing ones as necessary to allow installation of the new drain pipe. There are six (6) total offsets as specified on Sheets C-109 thru C-112 (one 36-inch offset and five six-inch and/or eight-inch offsets). We are not aware of any others. Offsets are paid under Contract Items 0043 and 0044.
8. Will the catch basin and 18" RCP located on the north side of Sandra Drive near station 207+57 be removed and replaced? We are assuming this question is concerning the existing catch basin and 18" RCP pipe at the end of the work along Sandra Drive just east of the Sandra/Pace intersection. No, that catch basin and 18" RCP are to remain in-place.
QUANTITIES PROVIDED ARE ONLY ESTIMATES AND NO EQUITABLE ADJUSTMENT WILL BE MADE TO JOB ITEMS
