4. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

4.A. Location. The project is located at 5613E Mississinewa Dam Road, Mississinewa Lake, Peru, Indiana. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) partners with the DNR in the management of the public land at Mississinewa Lake and in the maintenance and operation of the Mississinewa Lake Dam. This is an earthen embankment dam built to impound the Mississinewa River for flood risk reduction. It provides flood protection to the Wabash River valley, supplies water to the area’s communities, improves the Wabash River’s water flow conditions, and offers a habitat for various species of fish and wildlife. The Mississinewa Dam Road is designated as a low-traffic volume roadway with an assumed ESAL condition of less than 1 million. However, the roadway is periodically used by heavier, multi-axel vehicles (recreational, agricultural/farming, and commercial trucking). Refer to Exhibit 1 of this SOW for the DNR’s Mississinewa Lake Project Map (with the bounded area of construction demarked by the red box)
