SCOPE OF WORK

C-1.1. PROJECT INFORMATION

The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and permits to supply potable water to the Lockport

Lock. A new well shall be drilled; a new pump, piping, wiring, conduits, etc. shall be installed; the old well with compromised casing shall be sealed off.

C-1.2. SCOPE OF WORK

The existing well is contaminated and shows symptoms of a hole in the casing. It is located on the first floor (below grade), inside of the building. This well shall be sealed off and decommissioned.

The new well shall connect to the piping and equipment (pressure tank, softener, sediment filter, UV light filter, boiler) located next to the old well. The image below shows the equipment and old well, with sediment filter removed. The proposed well location is pictured below and is located approximately 100 ft across the 5-space paved parking lot and sidewalk. The Contractor shall run the electrical conduit and water piping underground and repave the surfaces cut/modified after work is complete to the same or better standard. The depth of water pipes shall be to the industry standard to prevent freezing.

The depth of the new well shall be sufficient to provide a reliable and consistent water source. While the old well was over 600 ft deep, nearby locations approximately 100 ft lower in elevation were successful with 200 ft wells.

Therefore, the new well is expected to be ~400 ft deep.

The casing shall be stainless steel.

No underground utilities are expected to be present under the proposed well location, however the contractor shall take precautions to ensure that is the case.

This work shall begin within 10 calendar days after issuance of the Notice To Proceed (NTP) and completed within

45 calendar days thereafter.
