The required response date/time has changed from 18-Jun-2019 05:00 PM to 20-Jun-2019, with quote packages due no later than 05:00 PM (Central time).
B. REVISED PLAN SHEETS:
Offerors shall remove and replace Plan Sheet S-101 with the revised respective sheet attached hereto.
- Plan Sheet S-101 has been amended to give a 12” minimum from face of sheet pile for the excavation and a maximum distance of a 12-inch width.
C. USACE’S RESPONSES TO CONTRACTOR’S INQUIRES FOLLOW:
Question #1: Will a SSHO, QC manager and superintendent be required for this project?
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #1: Yes, a SSHO, QC manager and superintendent be required for this project. Refer to Specification Section 01 35 26 for details on SSHO, QC Manager, and Superintendent.
Question #2: Is there a public bid opening for this project?
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #2: No, there is no public bid opening for this Solicitation. The solicitation type for this acquisition is a negotiated procurement, meaning no public bid opening results.
This also means the identities and prices of offerors are not publicly revealed with the exception of the winning offeror. It is important to note, other offerors may agree to reveal themselves along with their prices, but permission must be provided to the USACE at the time of their submittal.
Question #3: What access points and staging areas are available for the little calumet river work area?
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #3: On sheet C-102 there is no access shown to the repair area. The work area can be accessed from the hospital parking lot off of Euclid or from Howard Ave. It is possible to access the riverside of the wall from either Calumet Ave (on the riverside of the chain link fence) or Columbia Ave on foot. The Contractor may stage within the work limits shown. See Amended Plan Sheet C- 102.
Question #4: There is no traffic control plan provided for the Cady Marsh Ditch, will a lane closure be allowed during replacement of the Trash Rack Panels?
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #4: It is the Contractor’s responsibility to provide a traffic control plan. Refer to Specification Section 01 57 20.02 03. A lane closure will be allowed if needed. See Plan Sheet C-101.
Question #5: What prep is required to the sheet pile wall prior to the sealant and backer rod being placed?
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #5: Refer to Specification Section 07 92 00 paragraph 3.2.
Question #6: On Sheet S-102 it does not show a distance between face of wall and easement edge defining our work area? Can this area be defined?
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #6: Plan Sheet S-102 has been amended by way of this amendment to provide this information.
W912P619Q0010
Question #7: On sheet S-102 there is a 12” minimum from face of sheet pile for the excavation. Is there a maximum distance? There was an error.
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #7: There is no maximum distance. Additional quantities will be the Contractor’s responsibility. Refer to Amended Plan Sheet S-102.
Question #8: On sheet S-101 detail E1 it states to place sealant from top of pile to 12” below finish grade. We would need to excavate at each location, is there a specific backfill or will the dirt from the excavation be an adequate backfill?
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #8: Backfill with excavated material. Refer to Amended Plan Sheet S- 102.
Question #9: Will the new replacement trash rack mounting be the same as the existing connection? There are no details showing how the trash rack connects and if the connections are supposed to pivot / lift on mounting point?
USACE RESPONSE TO QUESTION #9: New trash rack is to be mounted the same as the existing rack.
Existing U-bolts can be seen in Section A on Plan Sheet C-101. Reuse of existing U-bolts is acceptable.
Refer to note 6 on Amended Plan Sheet C-101.
Question #10: Can the new racks be welded onto the rods instead of using spacers?
