CONTRACTOR’S INQUIRIES AND USACE’S RESPONSES (AS OF 2:30 P.M. ON 6

JULY 09)

1. INQUIRY: I made a site visit to the delivery area. The area I was shown was insufficient to accept the quantity of blocks required in the base bid. There is sufficient space to deliver the blocks, but not in the area shown on the site map.

Would you allow me to store the blocks next to the road near the area marked on the map supplied with the scope of work? If yes, there will be more than sufficient room and it will not effect your placement.

USACE RESPONSE: The area shown on the map is the general location of where the blocks will be delivered. The actual placement of the blocks as they are unloaded will be coordinated with the POC at the time of delivery.

2. INQUIRY: How many anchor systems are required in each block? and where?

RESPONSE: The attached sketch shows the quantity and placement of the anchors.

3. INQUIRY: 1.4.11 states that blocks have to be manufactured in a National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) plant. If the casting was accomplished in a temperature controlled building by NPCA certified workers, but not at a certified plant, would that be allowable?

RESPONSE: Yes. This will be acceptable. Proof of the certification will be required.
