SECTION SF 30 BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
1. Question: Is silt fence required the whole length of the fence? If so, how far past the end of the permanent fence?
Answer: See SECTION 01 57 20.01 03. The silt fence needs to be placed around the project limits.
2. Question: There is lime stone all along the river were silt fence is to be installed. Is the Army Corps.
requiring us to trench in the stone? Or are there other approved methods / alternatives?
Answer: See SECTION 01 57 20.01 03. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is not requiring a trench in the stone. It is up to the contractor to determine the method used to prevent run-off\erosion from entering the canal.
3. Question: Is the Contractor required to obtain permits from local government? What permits are required for this job?
Answer: See SECTION 01 57 20.01 03 - Submittals from the contractor will be used by USACE to obtain a NPDES site storm water permit from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. USACE is not aware of other permit requirements, but the Contractor would be responsible for acquiring any other necessary permits.

Answer: A job site trailer is not required. All required records and administrative papers must be present on site when the Contractor is working on site. Sanitary facilities must be provided as specified.
5. Question: Does the Army Corps require hard wired telephone lines, water and electricity?
Answer: No, however, the government will not provide any utility services. The contractor is responsible for all utilities required as necessary to complete work at the site and fulfill all contract requirements.

Answer: Yes, the contractor will be able to use the existing roads for site access.
7. Question: On the East side of the river does the temporary fence that is already in place cover construction barricades? (spec section 015202.0003 paragraph 1.5.2 barricades).
Answer: The existing temporary fencing will be considered an adequate construction barricade. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring all barricading is placed appropriately during all stages of work.
8. Question: Same spec section same as above, on the west side being that there is no public access does the Army Corps. require contractors to install construction barricades? If so, does the army Corps require a temp fence along the whole west side?
W912P6-08-B-0014
Answer: Temporary fencing will not be required on the west side as the existing fence and gate will limit pubic access. The access gate must be kept closed and locked when work is being completed.
9. Question: Does the Army Corps require screening on the storage area fence?
Answer: No. However, dust control should be addressed in the erosion control plan.
