Mount Morris Dam Parking Are Paving and Road Repair Pre-Bid Site Visit Questions and Answers 25 March 2015

Q: Can the QC person, SSHO, and first aid/CPR person be one person?

A: The QC and SSHO may be one person, and they may be one of the first aid/CPR certified persons on site. Work may not be active unless this person is on site.

Q: What constitutes acceptable first aid/CPR training?

A: Two personnel on site at all times must be trained in first aid and CPR by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Q: Should there be a broom finish on the concrete?

A: On all new concrete pours, a broom finish should be used to limit slippery surfaces.

Q: Please clarify the 24” high concrete wall in Option Bid Item 5? Is a footer required below frost level?

A: The 24” high wall at the rear of the structure is used to close the gap between the slab elevation and the elevation of the corrugated metal siding. This is approximately 24 inches. This is not a footer and does not need to extend to frost depth. Excavate to solid level ground, compact, lay gravel and pour the wall as specified.

Q: For sealing asphalt surfaces in Option Line Items 3 and 4, should traffic control be implemented?

A: Proper traffic control should be implemented. When the road is sealed, only half the road should be done at a time. Traffic should never be blocked off, and cars should not be allowed to enter sealed surfaces until after manufacturer recommendations. Half of the parking lot should be available also.
