Universal Grinder Quesons and Answers
1. Does the B axis spec require the B axis to feed, or just position? Answer- The need is for the position adjustment.
2. What is a tailstock chuck? Answer- A tailstock chuck is essentially the same thing as a headstock chuck, just on the other side (the tailstock) of the grinder. They are just work holding fixtures to support the free/opposite end of the workpiece with a center during machine operation. They are usually used when the part is especially long to provide more stability.
3. For example, “Installation including utility connections” is a listed requirement, but we need to examine the actual installation site for the specific information necessary to quote this. Will there be a site visit associated with this solicitation? If not, may we request a site visit be scheduled? Answer - 480 VAC – 3 phase and shop air will be provided within 30 ft. of point of installation, where it will then be up to the contractor to make the connections to the electrical panel and compressed air line at this point. A site visit will not be scheduled for this solicitation.
