QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Questions on and about the 1200 hydraulic pad press
Question 1: Is there a reason that the SOW was changed from a 4 post to a gib guided press. Can we quote either way?
Answer 1: Based upon further market research conducted prior to release of the solicitation, it was determined a gib guided press meets Corpus Christi Army Depot’s (CCAD) requirements.
Question 2: Is CCAD worried about wear on the bronze bushings and the press would have to be dismantled to replace them?
Answer 2: Yes
Question 3: The SOW calls for no more the 4 hydraulic cylinders, can we use 4 pressings cylinders and 2 small jacking cylinders. The jacking 2 cylinders will be used in the fast closing and opening mode.
Answer 3: No
Question 4: What is the height of the ceiling where the press will be located.
Answer 4: The area ceiling height is at least 20 feet tall.
Question 5: What is the thickness and size of the sheet metal that you are looking to press?
Answer 5: Thickness varies from .016 to .125. Size range anywhere from 4”x4” to 20”x40”, really whatever fits in 36”x60” minus a 1” margin.
Question 6: What kind of material is this? I see it says elastomeric sheet metal, any other info that you can give?
W912NW24Q0044
Answer 6: Varies from 2024-O aluminum to different grades of stainless steel or titanium, but primarily aluminum alloys
Question 7: How many pieces of mold are there? We typically see 2 piece up to 4 piece molds for compression molding.
Answer 7: CCAD does one (1) mold at a time due to different shapes of tooling and low production.
Question 8: It would help to know if the "rubber pads" of 4" thick and durometer of 70A is the final product to be manufactured in the press. The working is hard to understand and this can be found at the top of page 43 under section 2.2 specifications.
Answer 8: The rubber pads are part of the press essential to the process, not the product.
Question 9: My subcontractor handles construction of the machine in China and Taiwan while ensuring that all regulatory requirements and standards of the states are met. Would this arrangement be acceptable within the scope of the project?”
Answer 9: Please review and analyze whether the offered product can comply with solicitation clauses FAR
